Living the Christian Life

I came upon these three really good blog posts from Anthony Lilles on his interview with Fr. Conrad Osterhaut. Fr. Conrad is of the order of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal- a very fascinating order.

Elements of Radical Fraternity
http://beginningtopray.blogspot.com/2009/03/elements-of-radical-fraternity.html
"Christ is the foundation.Prayer. We search for, and find, Him in prayer. I fulfill my obligations as the ritual; the practice is something alive and connecting to the mystical union. Christ is present in the power of prayer. To quote St. Paul, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives within me.”His love is manifest through the covenant and Eucharist. He is offering the tangible reality of his presence in the Eucharist, which is both his humanity and his divinity. If we come to the Eucharist prepared for it, ready to receive the Lord giving himself to us in all our smallness and completing us through Him, we are giving ourselves as he did, prepared to be in service to others."

Radical Fraternity

"The recovery of the Francican Tradition, which the Friars of the Renewal have devoted themselves to, is really a rediscovery of genuine fellowship in the Lord. By placing their fraternity above material comforts, they are rediscovering how to live with one another as brothers in Christ."

Radical Fraternity: Making the Sacrifice
http://beginningtopray.blogspot.com/2009/03/radical-fratenity-making-sacrifice.html
"When our love does not really cost us anything, it is not really love. Real love pours out until it hurts. This is what Jesus did for us on the Cross -- it is what St. Paul says we need to do with our lives in return."

End of the 3rd Quarter

Today is the end of the 3rd quarter! The school year is 3/4 of the way over and only 2 weeks until Spring Break!

Go see the play "Into the Wild" and have a great weekend!

"In a world lacking hope, look to Jesus, Pope tells youth"

"Pope Benedict then goes on to ask, “where can I obtain and how can I keep alive the flame of hope burning in my heart?”

“Experience shows that personal qualities and material goods are not enough to guarantee the hope which the human spirit is constantly seeking. ... Politics, science, technology, economics and all other material resources are not of themselves sufficient to provide the great hope to which we all aspire,” the Pope writes.

“This hope 'can only be God, Who encompasses the whole of reality and Who can bestow upon us what we, by ourselves, cannot attain,'” he answers, quoting from his encyclical Spe Salvi.

“To you young people, who are in search of a firm hope, I address the very words that St. Paul wrote to the persecuted Christians in Rome at that time: 'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.'"

Bringing his words to the youth to a close, Pope Benedict asks Mary, Mother of Hope to intercede for young people the world over.

"Mary, Star of the Sea, we ask you to guide the young people of the whole world to an encounter with your Divine Son Jesus. Be the celestial guardian of their fidelity to the Gospel and of their hope." "

Last week of the 3rd Quarter!

A Message from Pope Benedict XVI: ""On this First Sunday of Lent, the Gospel of Saint Mark speaks of Jesus being lead into the desert by the Holy Spirit, tempted by Satan and assisted by the angels. Let us pray that our Lenten journey will strengthen us in the struggle against all forms of temptation. Upon all of you I invoke God’s abundant blessings, and I wish you a pleasant Sunday and a happy stay in Rome!""

Remember this is the last week of the 3rd quarter! See Mr. Schreder if you believe you have any missing assignments-they will not be accepted after Friday.

Only 14 school days until Spring Break!

Baseball, Softball, and Girl's Soccer Practices begin today. Good Luck to all.
